The Infinity Tools premium quality Lettering router bits features 60° cutting edges that curve gracefully through an 1/8" radius on both sides of the 1/4" wide flat bottom. This router bit produces lettering that is highly visible and attractive in addition to being resistant to splintering and chipping. When routing around raised lettering the flat tip helps level the area around the letter quickly, while the beveled edge makes the raised letters more resistant to splintering than square-edged letters.

Make sure to choose the bearing kit option for pattern or template sign routing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shank size is this lettering router bit?

This lettering bit has a 1/2" shank, so it requires a router with a 1/2" collet. Browse more carbide router bits for other shank options.

What is the cutting angle of the bit?

The bit features 60° cutting edges that curve through a 1/8" radius on both sides of a 1/4" wide flat bottom, creating clean, attractive lettering.

What is this router bit used for?

It is designed for routing lettering into wood for signs, plaques, and decorative panels. The geometry produces lettering that is highly visible and resistant to splintering and chipping.

Can I use this bit for raised lettering?

Yes. When routing around raised lettering, the flat tip quickly levels the area around each letter, and the beveled edge makes raised letters more resistant to splintering than square-edged letters.

Does the bit come with a bearing?

A bearing kit is available as an option. Choose the bearing kit if you plan to do pattern or template sign routing. Pair it with our router templates for repeatable results.

Why is the flat bottom helpful?

The 1/4" wide flat bottom gives each routed letter a clean, level base and helps the surrounding area stay flat, especially useful when leveling around raised letters.

Will this bit reduce splintering?

Yes. The beveled edge produces lettering that resists splintering and chipping, giving you cleaner, more durable signs than square-edged cuts.

Should I use this bit in a router table or freehand?

Both work. A router table offers steady, controlled passes, while freehand routing suits custom sign and template work.
