Frequently Asked Questions

What cutter head do these replacement knives fit?

They are designed to fit on the Infinity Tools Insert-Pro Rabbeting Shaper Cutter Head, item 84-076. Browse the matching heads in our Insert Pro shaper cutters collection.

Are the knives sold individually or as a set?

These replacement long knives are sold individually, so you can buy exactly the quantity you need to refresh your cutter head.

What grade of carbide are these knives made from?

They are made from a C4 sub-micron grade of solid carbide, which lasts longer and outperforms brazed carbide cutters on the market.

What is the cutter height of the long knife?

The long knife has a 2" cutter height, making it the taller profile in the Insert-Pro rabbeting system.

Can these knives be sharpened?

Yes. Sharpening is very simple, and the double-sided design means each knife offers two usable edges. For abrasives and stones, see our sharpening supplies.

Why are solid carbide knives better than brazed cutters?

Solid carbide knives made from C4 sub-micron carbide last longer and outperform brazed carbide cutters, and they hold a sharper, mirror-finished edge for a superior quality of cut.

Should I keep spare knives on hand?

Yes. We recommend keeping a fresh set of knives on hand so you can swap a dull edge for a sharp one and eliminate down-time in the shop.

What does a rabbeting shaper cutter do?

A rabbeting cutter mills a stepped recess (a rabbet) along the edge of stock, commonly used for joinery and panel work. These knives keep that cut clean and accurate. Explore more shaper cutters & accessories.

Is the double-sided design important?

Yes. Being double-sided means the knife has a cutting edge on both sides, so you can flip it for a fresh edge and get more use before resharpening.

Who makes these replacement knives?

They are made by Infinity Cutting Tools specifically for the Infinity Insert-Pro rabbeting system. See the full lineup of Shape-Up shaper cutters and accessories.
